DuBois, PA — On Sunday, the DuBois Dream minor league basketball team tipped off their 3 on 3 basketball tournament. Officials say precautions were in place to protect players from the coronavirus.
Since February, the DuBois Dream's entire season was cancelled because of the pandemic.
As Clearfield County moved into the green phase, the owner of the team Albert Varacallo says they came up with a 3 on 3 outdoor basketball tournament.
Yesterday was the first day of the tournament and it'll take place every Sunday in July.
Varacallo said teams can register to play in the tournament.
The winners of those games will qualify for the tournament of champions in August.
Varacallo said they had hand sanitizing stations and wiped down the basketballs after each game to prevent the spread of the virus.
He said this tournament shows the power of sports during hard times.
If you're interested in registering for the 3 on 3 tournament, head to the Dubois Dream's website.
