LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — A father was sentenced to immediate parole on involuntary manslaughter of his 19-month-old daughter.
According to our newsgathering partners at the Times Leader, James Robert Kasisky Jr. was sentenced to immediate parole for the Dec. 2022 death of his daughter Phoenix.
Investigation showed that Phoenix was left in her room for 26 hours in a high-heat, low-humidity environment without nutrition or hydration.
Police say that between her mother's and father's supervision, no one checked on her in that period of time.
Kasisky was awarded 47 days of pre-sentencing credit for the time served, making him eligible for immediate parole on the sentence of one-to-21 months for involuntary manslaughter, the Times Leader reported.
Phoenix's mother, Valentina Varela-Luis, pled no contest to two counts of reckless endangerment. Her sentencing is scheduled for July 11.
