FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) — A man accused of setting his father’s girlfriend on fire appeared to suggest he had no idea what happened to her, newly released body cam footage reveals.
On Thursday morning, a Fairfield Township Police officer arrived at a home to find a badly burned woman on the ground in the backyard.
About a minute later, 23-year-old Robbie Robinson, Jr. approached the officer, who promptly put him in handcuffs.
“I don’t know what happened,” Robinson says in the video. “It just went off.”
He later asks the officer, “What happened?”
In the video, the victim can be heard telling police that Robinson knocked her teeth out and that she needed her inhaler to breathe.
Police say Robinson set the woman on fire in an upstairs room, and that she jumped from a second-story window to get away.
Neighbor Dennis Williams told WKRC that his dogs alerted him to the commotion and he ran outside to find her covered in burns, before calling 911.
“Water with gasoline, he threw it on her,” Williams told dispatchers in the call.
Robinson seemed shocked on camera when officers told him the victim, whom he referred to as his stepmother, had made it out of the house.
“Your stepmother jumped out the back,” an officer said on the body cam footage.
“Oh, she did?” he replied.
Robinson was charged with aggravated arson and felonious assault. He’s being held on a $200,000 bond.
