The Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act updated Friday and focuses on employees such as bartenders or waitresses.
Sydney Rupert is a bartender at The Haven. She said, “it takes a lot to work in this industry. I make hardly anything compared to what I make in tips.”

Alaska Airlines uniforms through the decades
PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) – After nearly two years of design work, Alaska Airlines will reveal its new West Coast-inspired uniform collection for its 23,000 employees at a Fashion show in Seattle Thursday night.
Seattle couture designer Luly Yang is the brain behind the new looks.
The new uniforms will undergo a 60-day wear test by employees from Alaska, Horizon Air and Virgin America. These employees include pilots, flight attendants, customer service agents and lounge concierges.

Crews battle garage fire in Clearfield County
LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — Clearfield County fire crews responded to a fire in Lawrence Township Saturday afternoon.
Emergency dispatchers say the call for a car fire came in at around noon.
According to the Lawrence Township Volunteer Fire Company, the fire spread to the garage.
Crews from Hyde Fire Company helped put out the blaze before it could spread to a house just a few feet away.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Penn State tight end Theo Johnson declares for NFL Draft
University Park, PA (WJAC) — Penn State tight end Theo Johnson announced on social media Friday that he will declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.
The fourth-year junior has played in 44 career games with the Nittany Lions, hauling in 75 receptions for 922 yards and 11 touchdowns.
While Johnson has found success on the field as one of Penn State's premiere pass catchers, he also made headlines off the field for his alleged involvement in an altercation at a fraternity party in February.

PNG investigating gas leak near Coopersdale Homes
UPDATE | JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — An official with People's Natural Gas says authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of a gas leak near Coopersdale Homes in Johnstown.
Authorities say the leak was reported early Thursday morning along the 200 block of Cooper Ave.
A PNG spokesperson says crews are expected to have the area cleaned up by the end of the day.
Local authorities add that no major issues were reported as a result of the gas leak.

First year head coach Tre'von Williams has transformed the Blue Jays’ hoops program in his short time there, but just a couple years ago he was ready to leave basketball behind.

After a successful career at Greater Johnstown, Tre'von Williams went on to play at Penn State DuBois, but in his final season, his life changed.

1 person dead after 'major structure fire' at Bedford County Post Office building
WOODBURY, Pa. (WJAC) — One person is dead after a massive fire Sunday night at a post office in Bedford County, according to county coroner Rusty Styer.
Residents in the area tell 6 News that the post office in Woodbury Borough along the 100 block of Main Street also had apartment buildings. Styer says they found the deceased was found on the first floor of the building and an autopsy is scheduled for Monday July 5th.

Acquaintance charged with murder in the death of a Philadelphia journalist
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — An acquaintance has been charged in the death of a Philadelphia journalist who went from sleeping on the street to working for the mayor to writing columns on the city's most pressing social issues.
Robert Edmond Davis, 19, faces murder, weapons counts and related charges in the death of Josh Kruger, 39, who was shot and killed at his Philadelphia home Oct. 2. A warrant had been issued for Davis four days later and authorities have said they have video of him in the area of Kruger's home before the shooting.
