Mystery snake found in Manheim, usually found thousands of miles from PA
Lancaster County, PA — A surprising call for one Pennsylvania animal rescue over the weekend, when a 'mystery' snake turned up in Manheim, Lancaster County.
The Forgotten Friend Animal Rescue says it got a call about the snake who had shown up in the same place four days in a row. The animal rescue says pictures indicated it was a snake usually found thousands of miles from Pennsylvania.
And sure enough, when they arrived, the reptile was a California Kingsnake.

USC protest encampment cleared, arrests made at University of Virginia
Students protesting the ongoing war in Gaza left a pro-Palestinian encampment at the University of Southern California early Sunday after they were surrounded by police and told they could face arrest if they didn't go.

'Some were shaken up:' Employee reacts to shooting at Punxsutawney Walmart
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — It’s been more than 24 hours since police say one man was shot dead during a fight between two brothers in the Walmart parking lot along Route 119 in Young Township, Jefferson County.
As of Tuesday afternoon, there appears to be no criminal charges against the suspect, and information about what happened remains very limited.

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Thursday was the last day of the Aerium Summit at the John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport, which featured Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis speaking at the event.
Lt. Gov. Davis is also the chair of the Pennsylvania chapter of the Aerospace States Association.
Davis says he wants to support growing industries in the Commonwealth, like aerospace and aviation, to compete with nearby states like Ohio and West Virginia.

Australian surfer has close encounter with humpback whale
Sydney, Australia — An Australian 'wing surfer' survived a frightening collision, and it's a good thing that he was recording his ride, because who would have believed him?
Jason Breen is seen catching a nice ride when suddenly, a humpback whale leaps out of the water.
Jason was dragged beneath the surface but managed to escape without any serious damage.
He says he's fortunate that the whale was a juvenile, because it could have ended very differently with a fully-grown humpback.

Central PA organization prepares for 'Festival of Trees' event in Centre Co.
STATE COLLEGE, Pa (WJAC) — Trees were set up Wednesday at the Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology ahead of the Festival of Trees in State College.
The festival runs from this Friday, Dec. 13, through Sunday Dec. 15, however, the trees will be lit on Thursday.
There will also be food and entertainment available.
The cost is $2 for adults and $1 for children.
Proceeds will help support Centre County United Way partner agencies and CPI student organizations.

Johnstown staple Miller's Clothing recognized for more than 100 years of business
JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — A company that's served the Johnstown area for about 130 years will receive an award in Chicago on Saturday.
Miller's of Johnstown got the recognition from an online publication, M-R magazine, for being one of only 12 clothing stores around the country to be open for more than 100 years.
One of the co-owners of Miller's, Taylor Clark, says the company has business practices that have helped it stay open for decades.
