LOS ANGELES (AP) — The father of Kristin Smart, the California Central Coast college student who vanished from campus 26 years ago, says a murder conviction hasn't ended the "agonizingly long journey" to find the truth about his daughter.
"Without Kristin, there's no joy or happiness in this verdict," Smart's father, Stan Smart, said at a news conference after a jury on Tuesday found Paul Flores — the last man seen with Smart — guilty of first-degree murder.

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — As least a couple months in jail and special provisions for probation, that is the sentence for a Centre County man who reportedly had animals found dead or neglected on his farm.
State police say they were called to the 150-acre, Curtin Township farm of Levi Byler, in January of 2023, following a report of a dead horse that had been lying in a farm field for a week.

According to Dubois Mayor Pat Reasinger, 113 employees will be laid off from the Paris Uniform Services location on Hoover Avenue in Dubois.
“That's a lot for Dubois, quite a bit, and I feel sorry for the families, it affects the kids and everything, that’s what’s most important is the families," said Mayor Reasinger.
In March, Cintas Corp. acquired Paris Uniform Services after more than 45 years of operating on its own.

Illinois banned the sale and possession of more than 170 semi-automatic firearms and magazines over certain capacities in January 2023. Lawsuits challenging the law on constitutional grounds followed. After preliminary motions went up through the federal appeals court, plaintiffs asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene.
Last month, justices put Illinois’ cases into conference.

“We like to think of ourselves as the premier cannabis dispensary company in Pennsylvania,” PA operations manager Will Aggains said.
The Chicago-based company Herbology is now reaching out to folks in Clearfield.
“There no cannabis dispensary nearby, and so was filling a need for people that live in Dubois,” Aggains said.

A Get-Go spokesperson says people can place their order through the DoorDash app and website.
Deliveries will be free from a guest's first purchase of $15 or more, from April 30th to May 13th.
After placing the order, customers are asked to call the phone number included in the order confirmation email.
A Get-Go member will then bring out the order to the customer's car.

FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) — A man accused of setting his father’s girlfriend on fire appeared to suggest he had no idea what happened to her, newly released body cam footage reveals.
On Thursday morning, a Fairfield Township Police officer arrived at a home to find a badly burned woman on the ground in the backyard.
About a minute later, 23-year-old Robbie Robinson, Jr. approached the officer, who promptly put him in handcuffs.

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — In Somerset County, a new public archery range is officially open on State Game Lands 50.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Thursday to celebrate the grand opening of the range, which is located on the 700 block of Berlin Plank Road, behind the Game Commission's office in Somerset.
Steve Smith, the executive director of the PA Game Commission, says this is the only public archery range in Somerset County.
