PITTSBURGH (WJAC) — The wait is over! Pittsburgh Pirates top pitching prospect Paul Skenes is scheduled to make his MLB debut this weekend when the Bucs host the Chicago Cubs.
The team announced Wednesday that Skenes is expected to start Saturday's game.
Skenes was drafted by Pittsburgh, first overall, last summer and was quickly promoted to the organization's Double-A affiliate, the Altoona Curve.
The LSU product then began this season with the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians.
He has made seven starts for Indy this year, pitching over 27 combined innings, tallying 45 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.99.
