DAVIDSVILLE — Up to 100 gallons of fuel spilled on South Main Street, as well as into the nearby Stonycreek River, Saturday night, according to emergency officials.
Jerome Fire Chief Tom Hughes told 6 News that the spill would not affect drinking water, but that they were taking steps to block the fuel from spreading downriver.
The fuel spill happened after a tanker truck driver tried to fill up the wrong gas tank at Davidsville Fuel, a BP gas station, during a delivery, causing it to overflow and spray fuel into the parking lot.
Hughes expected the BP to open as usual tomorrow morning, although crews were expected to stay there working through the night.
As of Saturday evening, emergency officials expected South Main Street to remain closed well into the night.
