Roof Garden Tractor Buddies perform in Stoystown

The Roof Garden Tractor Buddies impressed crowds in the Stoystown Lions Club with their square dancing routines on Sunday.

Though things turned to a more serious note as prior to their performance, the tractor buddies held a moment of silence for their 3 members that passed this year - Wayne Yoder, Harry Rhoads, and Larry Frazier.

The tractors displayed black flags to honor their late members.

However, Bill Blough, the founder of the group is not losing hope as more and more young people flock to join in on the dancing.

"As long as we have young blood in here to carry these old geezers," said Blough. "I’m one of the oldest ones so I’m very happy to set out and stand back and let young guys go to it. I’ve been dancing for 20 years so it’s time to let these young fellas get in here and show the world what they can do with their tractors too."

There are multiple generations dancing in the group and the goal is to keep the tradition going and expand even further.

“The ones that we lost were strong supporters of the program," said Blough. "They danced down at the farm show for several years now, and they were members of the club, and with these young fellas coming on they’re filling the hole that the grandfathers left."

You can expect to see much more of the Roof Garden Tractor Buddies at their upcoming events, the next one being at the Somerset County Fair in two weeks.
