NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — In the first day of testimony, ESPN broadcaster Erin Andrews' father took the stand to describe his daughter's reaction to a naked video leaked on the internet by a peeping Tom. She is suing the hotel for damages related to the incident.
Michael David Barrett filmed her through peepholes at various hotel locations, including the Nashville Marriott. Barrett was arrested, and sentenced to 30 months in prison.
Erin's father Steven described a phonecall he received from her when she found out about the hotel video that quickly went viral.
He said he couldn't understand her screams over the phone, "she kept screaming, 'I'm on the internet... I'm naked, and everything I worked for is done.'"
Erin was emotional in court as her father continued to describe the ordeal.
"She was victimized and traumatized," he said, claiming "she feared for her own life. Thought someone was going to kill her."
Her father questioned how anyone could call the hotel and ask if Erin was staying there, and get an answer.
"If this guy had been a killer, she'd be dead."
A former front desk manager is on the stand, testifying about employees trained on the importance of guest privacy.
