JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — It’s been more than 24 hours since police say one man was shot dead during a fight between two brothers in the Walmart parking lot along Route 119 in Young Township, Jefferson County.
As of Tuesday afternoon, there appears to be no criminal charges against the suspect, and information about what happened remains very limited.
6 News reached out to the coroner’s office for the identity of the victim but were told to talk to state police.
After talking with state police multiple times, they say they have no further comment other than stating that, “the incident was determined to be an isolated family dispute between two brothers.”
We also spoke with officials at the local magistrates' office who say there still has yet to be an arraignment.
Multiple Walmart shoppers say they feel safe now knowing that it was an isolated incident.
One employee, who wasn’t working on Monday, says it’s “back to normal” and spoke about what he heard from coworkers who were at the store.
“Some of them were shaken up a little bit, they didn’t think we should’ve opened afterwards. I thought it was a little sketchy coming back, but everyone has a job to do.”
One man we spoke with claims he was a friend of the family and says that he believes there shouldn’t be any charges in the case.
